My name is Selcuk and I was born in Istanbul, on the last day of 1974. Yes, just
a few hours before the new year’s eve, on a cold winter day, a typical
Capricorn boy was born.
My whole school life was in Istanbul, at different
quarters of the imperial capital. Throughout my years at school, I got engaged in tourism since my parents started a hotel business in Kusadasi (a beach
resort on the west coast), then I was only 12. After a very bright school life,
despite different expectations, I decided to study “arts” or “ tourism” but
somehow, I found myself studying “business administration” at the “University
of Marmara” in Istanbul. Studying and tourism accompanied each other.
I began my amateur guiding career when I was 20. After a year, I sat for the
exam which was opened by the Ministry of Tourism, in order to get a license
for being a professional tour guide. As I was successful, I continued
with the process (exams, courses, training tours, etc.) that took a whole
year and eventually I was able to start my professional guiding career in 1997.
Ever since, I have been guiding tourists in Turkey and leading tours abroad.
I completed my BA Degree in 1999 and military service in 2001. I love travelling
and try to travel as much as I can in off-seasons to “learn & see” more
and more. I’m an English speaking tour guide, so it doesn’t matter
where you are from, as long as you can speak English, you are welcome on my
tours. My other professional language on my license is Dutch (Nederlands)
